Synopsis

A furious rain lashed Rome. Pope Alexander VI, Rodrigo Borgia, was in the arms of his mistress, Giulia Farnese, when the ceiling of their chamber gave way, collapsing upon them. Miraculously, Rodrigo survived beneath the rubble, but was left in a state of profound shock. As the apostles had done, he began to speak in tongues, convinced that the Holy Spirit had descended upon him.
