Synopsis

A pall of sorrow descended upon the Borgia family during this time. Kneeling before the tomb of Juan Vannozza, they recited the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows aloud. Lucrezia, however, broke the solemnity with a question about newly whispered secrets concerning their lineage. Vannozza declined to speak of them, yet was gently urged to contemplate the Fifth Passion. As he prayed, Lucrezia began to glimpse the hidden history of her family, and pondered how to atone for its past failings.
