Synopsis

A misstep by a horse on the trail left Candy with an injury to his hand, prompting Joe to take him to Angelus for medical attention. There, Joe encountered Steve Regan, a miner he knew, and learned that the men had walked out on strike – at Steve’s urging – because the timber propping up the tunnels was decaying. Unable to manage the wild horse drive with Candy incapacitated, Joe offered Steve a day's pay to assist him.
