Synopsis

Hoss struck up a friendship with a withdrawn man called Patch, who baked an apple pie unlike any Hoss had ever known. So impressed was he by Patch’s skill – particularly his baking – that he brought him on to work at the Ponderosa. However, Ben viewed Hoss' new friend with less enthusiasm when the Cartwrights found themselves embroiled in a confrontation with a mining company, and Patch shrank back from the violence.
