Synopsis

Adam defended Annie O’Toole's mining claim before Judge Ben Cartwright. Annie had arrived at the Washoe Diggings with a stake based on a filing made by her suitor, Swede Lundberg. Swede held two claims and had sold one to a friend, Gregory Spain, which resulted in considerable confusion—a situation requiring Judge Cartwright’s judgment to resolve.
