The residents of Villefrance attempt to navigate the recurring murders, concealed truths, and inexplicable events that plague their community and the nearby woods. The narrative unfolds gradually, beginning with subtle hints and individual accounts before culminating in a significant revelation later on. Numerous characters meet their end as hidden histories are brought to light, suggesting something otherworldly resides within the forest. The perpetrator behind some of the most serious issues is someone unexpected. Regarding my thoughts: Season 1 was enjoyable because each episode contained its own self-contained narrative. Laurene possesses a complex history and an atypical link to the woods. The mayor’s father's malevolence, along with the strange happenings, contribute to some compelling drama. However, the storyline progresses at a somewhat deliberate pace. In Season 2, fatalities persist, but the emphasis shifts toward corruption and criminal enterprises within Villefrance, as well as the presence of a creature in the forest. I appreciate that they explore the mysterious element in the woods more directly, because to me, it’s the most captivating aspect of the series. Still, quite a bit remains unresolved. It was good to see Laurene's daughter, Cora, featured more prominently.
