**A compelling enigma concerning young children and their deception.** SEASON 01: I wasn't familiar with the book or its narrative beforehand, so this limited series came as a genuine surprise. From what I’ve gathered, it’s considered an exceptional adaptation. The casting was superb, and the episodes were thoughtfully structured, each possessing a strong beginning and conclusion. The tension held my attention until the very last episode's final moments. Throughout, I attempted to anticipate events, but most of my predictions proved incorrect. Ideally, this would have been presented as a two-part film; then it could be regarded among the finest mystery films ever made, potentially earning numerous Oscars and Golden Globe awards. It has currently received an impressive 14 Emmy nominations, and I’m eager to see the outcome. Initially, the story unfolds as a typical drama centered on mothers whose children attend the same school and are in the same class. The central conflict arises when a boy who recently relocated to town with his mother is accused of bullying a female classmate. This accusation divides the group of mothers, though it appears to have little impact on the children directly involved. As the narrative progresses through subsequent episodes, numerous secrets about these mothers’ lives and their pasts are gradually unveiled. The ultimate resolution arrives unexpectedly, accompanied by a significant plot twist. The involvement of prominent film actors transitioning to television proved to be a considerable asset—another reason why I believe it should have been a feature film. Each performer was given ample opportunity to showcase their abilities; the characters were well-developed, making it difficult to foresee where the story would ultimately lead. Directed by the same person behind ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and other noteworthy films. I am hoping for a second season, although the possibility seems rather remote. From the settings to the music, everything was excellent. It's an outstanding mystery drama that everyone should experience, even those who typically avoid television series.
