Ben 10: Omniverse represents the nadir of the Ben 10 series. Coming after the sophistication and emotional resonance of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, it’s incredibly disheartening. The program disregards substantial plots and growth for characters, opting instead for superficial, self-contained stories that are excessively silly. The attempts at humor fall completely flat and feel contrived. Ultimate Alien offered a profound and affecting experience with significant consequences; in contrast, Omniverse seems to aim for a broad, childish presentation lacking any real narrative or emotional impact. Ben's personality declines, and the connection he shares with his allies feels diluted and unreliable. The shift in visual style is another substantial error. The refined animation seen in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien has disappeared, substituted by a simplistic, two-dimensional design that seems jarringly inappropriate. It’s as though the show lost sight of what originally distinguished the franchise. This installment fails to respect earlier installments—it's merely an empty imitation of what Ben 10 had the potential to be. Anyone anticipating a suitable continuation of Ultimate Alien should seek something else; Omniverse is a regression on all fronts.
