The casting choices are also problematic; even a fan-made trailer demonstrated better casting decisions. It's disappointing to see how much has been lost in trying to recreate what made the original so special, especially concerning James Avery’s portrayal of Uncle Phil. And the character meant to evoke Geoffrey feels like an imitation of Idris Elba, which is just absurd. The show resorts to cheap dramatic tactics and ultimately undermines the nuance and depth of the original sitcom.
