Synopsis

In the heart of the forest, a jawbone is discovered. The subsequent recovery of the rest of the remains reveals them to be those of Viktor Eklund, missing for the past five years. His mother, Cecilia Eklund, a celebrated author, had only recently begun to reconcile herself to his absence. Martin Beck had been investigating the disappearance, but Alex considered the case remarkably lacking in substantial leads and not worthy of further pursuit, though he held a different view.
