Synopsis

Beethoven's celebrated symphony begins with its instantly recognizable opening four notes, performed here by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Maxim Emelyanychev. Following this, Saint-Saëns’ beloved Fifth Piano Concerto, affectionately known as ‘The Egyptian’, is presented, with French pianist Alexandre Kantorow – a star of the Paris 2024 Olympic opening ceremony – as soloist.
