Synopsis

The 53rd Promenade Concert, entitled "Beneath the Underdog: Charles Mingus Revisited," honors the monumental legacy of Charles Mingus, a towering figure in 20th-century jazz. Conductor Jules Buckley and the Metropole Orkest present a performance dedicated to the composer, bandleader, and bassist. The program also features an exceptional array of soloists, including saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, trumpeter Christian Scott, and singer Kandace Springs.
