Synopsis

In 1989, two titans of 20th-century music, Ravi Shankar and Philip Glass, collaborated on a studio album titled *Passages*. The recording offered a singular convergence of Hindustani sitar music with Glass's distinctive American minimalism. Tonight marks the first complete live performance of this album. Anoushka Shankar joins as sitar player, accompanied by a remarkable ensemble of Indian soloists and the Britten Sinfonia, conducted by Karen Kamensek.
