Synopsis

To mark Sir Peter Maxwell Davies's eightieth birthday, the Proms present a concert featuring works of his own choosing. The opening overture, *Ebb of Winter*, evokes the stark beauty of his native Orkney. A contrasting glimpse of island life appears in the lively ebullience of *Orkney Wedding, with Sunrise*. The concert concludes with the virtuosic fourth Strathclyde Concerto, written for clarinet and orchestra.
