Synopsis

Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra presented the second of a two-concert series, reviving the Proms tradition of composer-focused evenings with a program devoted to Brahms. The performance began with his deeply personal, autumnal Third Symphony, followed by the grandeur and impressiveness of the Fourth – a substantial symphony boasting one of the composer's most exquisite slow movements.
