Synopsis

Cellist Alisa Weilerstein will appear at the Proms performing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, a cornerstone of the Romantic repertoire. The Czech Philharmonic, conducted by Jiří Bělohlávek, will present Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, often considered an exuberant celebration of movement. The concert will commence with a work steeped in Czech tradition: the overture to Janáček’s final opera, *From the House of the Dead*.
