Tom Service presents Stravinsky’s *The Rite of Spring* from the Royal Albert Hall, a work widely considered the cornerstone of 20th-century music. Conducted by François-Xavier Roth, the French orchestra Les Siècles perform the composer's original version, employing period instruments as they did in the ballet's infamous 1913 premiere in Paris. The program unfolds a history of the 20th-century avant-garde, beginning with the 17th-century origins of ballet in Lully’s baroque works, progressing thr
