Synopsis

Samira Ahmed welcomes the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra to the Royal Albert Hall, led by conductor Juanjo Mena. The program features Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Nielsen's Fourth Symphony. The concerto showcases the remarkable talent of Nobuyuki Tsujii, a young Japanese pianist whose blindness has never hindered his artistry. Nielsen’s Fourth Symphony, known as ‘The Inextinguishable,’ is marked by a dramatic interplay between two distinct sets of timpani.
