Synopsis

The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, led by the engaging French-Canadian conductor Yannick Nezet-Séguin, presents a program exploring the theme of doomed love at the BBC Proms, from the Royal Albert Hall. The concert opens with Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet fantasy overture, followed by Wagner’s Wesendonck Lied, a song cycle born from the composer’s passion for the wife of a wealthy patron.
