Synopsis

The Proms’ Sunday concerts proceed with a program devoted to Russian composers, showcasing works by Prokofiev and Shostakovich, led by Danish conductor Thomas Sondergard and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at the Royal Albert Hall. Tom Service offers his characteristic interpretation of the music, featuring soloist Daniel Hope in Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2 in G minor, followed by Shostakovich’s powerful Symphony No. 11, “The Year 1905.”
