Synopsis

The Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, under the baton of Daniele Gatti, returns to the Proms. The concert begins with a prelude from Wagner’s *Parsifal*, followed by Alban Berg's Violin Concerto, a pioneering work from 20th-century Vienna, performed with soloist Frank Peter Zimmermann. A poignant narrative of youthful love and mature sadness unfolds with Richard Strauss’s Rosenkavalier Suite, and the evening culminates in Maurice Ravel's vibrant interpretation of the Viennese waltz in *La valse*.
