Synopsis

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe, under the direction of Bernard Haitink, will present the first of two concerts dedicated to Brahms. The program features his Third Symphony and Piano Concerto No. 1. Haitink has lauded the COE as "a group of exceptionally talented musicians," a description equally fitting for Emanuel Ax, the pianist who will join them for the second half of the performance. Presenter Charles Hazlewood also interviews Haitink during a rehearsal break.
