Under the direction of Edward Gardner and introduced by Suzy Klein, the BBC Symphony Orchestra presents Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony, a work that achieved considerable acclaim during the Stalinist era of the 1930s and has since solidified its place as a cornerstone of 20th-century musical masterpieces.
