Synopsis

This recording captures a definitive performance of Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto, made in 1989. The esteemed American pianist Murray Perahia is joined by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, led by Sir Neville Marriner. The program was introduced by Charles Hazlewood, who spoke with pianist Paul Lewis, then undertaking a complete cycle of Beethoven's Piano Concertos at the 2010 season.
