Synopsis

A leading figure in contemporary British music, Oliver Knussen leads the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a vibrant concert program. The repertoire features Igor Stravinsky’s theatrical chamber work, *Jeu de Cartes*, Ottorino Respighi’s evocative *Fountains of Rome*, the Proms premiere of Helen Grime’s *Virga*, a work by the rising Scottish composer, Modest Balakirev’s exotic fantasy *Islamey*, and Knussen's own Horn Concerto, with Martin Owen as soloist. The concert is presented by Suzy Klein.
