Synopsis

Tchaikovsky holds the spotlight throughout the evening, as Stephen Hough brings his all-piano recital to a close with the Concert Fantasia in G Minor for piano and orchestra. Cellist Steven Isserlis joins in, performing Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, followed by the dramatic symphonic fantasy, Francesca da Rimini. The BBC Symphony Orchestra opens the program with Agon, one of eleven Stravinsky ballets featured at this season's Proms, conducted by David Robertson.
