Synopsis

Simon Rattle leads the esteemed Berlin Philharmonic in a performance of two works fundamental to their artistic legacy. The first, Brahms’s Symphony No. 3 in F major, drew inspiration from the composer's 1883 journey along the Rhine. The second is Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 in E minor, composed shortly after Stalin’s death. Presented by Charles Hazlewood.
