Synopsis

Verity Sharp presents Christoph von Dohnányi leading the Philharmonia Orchestra in a newly commissioned orchestral suite drawn from Thomas Ades’ opera *Powder Her Face*, a work inspired by the life and scandal of Margaret, Duchess of Argyll. The program continues with Béla Bartók's darkly psychological opera, *Duke Bluebeard's Castle*, featuring Charlotte Hellekant and Falk Struckmann in the vocal roles.
