Synopsis

Vladimir Ashkenazy leads the European Union Youth Orchestra in a performance of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 4, presented before Promenaders at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The program also features Janine Jansen’s performance of Mozart’s Turkish Concerto (No. 5 in A, K. 219), preceded by Alfred Schnittke’s *K(ein) Sommernachtstraum* – (Not) A Midsummer Night's Dream, a playful response to the commission for a work inspired by Shakespeare. The piece is introduced by Natasha Kaplinsky.
