Synopsis

Colin Davis, widely regarded as one of the foremost interpreters of Sibelius, conducts the composer's tone poem *Pohjola's Daughter* and his Seventh Symphony. The program also features Janáček’s setting of Taras Bulba, the celebrated Cossack hero, and Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements, inspired by the Second World War. The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain performs at London’s Royal Albert Hall, with an introduction by Howard Goodall.
