Synopsis

Simon Rattle leads the Berlin Philharmonic this evening. The concert begins with Szymanowski's impressionistic Violin Concerto No. 1, showcasing the exceptional talent of soloist Frank Peter Zimmermann. Following the intermission, Rattle will conduct the orchestra in Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 in E major, a work renowned for its poignant Adagio – a lament for Wagner – and a cornerstone of the symphonic repertoire of the Austro-German tradition.
