Synopsis

Following Zemlinsky's *Die Seejungfrau*, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's tale of *The Little Mermaid*, the program features Brahms's German Requiem. This work was composed in memory of his mother and his friend and champion, Robert Schumann. The BBC Symphony Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by James Conlon, perform alongside the Philharmonic Chorus.
