Synopsis

The Proms season concludes with a flourish as BBC1 assumes broadcast coverage, introduced by Alan Titchmarsh. The second half opens with six diverse and concise musical selections. Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ Ojai Festival Overture is followed by Puccini's Humming Chorus from *Madama Butterfly*. Two songs from Hollywood musicals then appear: “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’” from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s *Oklahoma!* and “Where Is the Life That Late I Led?” from Cole Porter’s *Kiss Me, Kate*.
