Synopsis

In celebration of Dvorak's natal day, Charles Mackerras, a leading figure in Czech music, will lead the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of the composer's beloved New World Symphony and the spirited Scherzo capriccioso. Sarah Chang will also feature in the program, performing the Violin Concerto in A Minor. The broadcast, airing from 7pm on BBC Radio 3, is presented from London's Royal Albert Hall by Charles Hazlewood.
