Synopsis

The fleeting nature of human existence forms the core of this performance, featuring the Orchestre de Paris and London Voices, conducted by Christoph Eschenbach. The program presents Luciano Berio’s final composition, *Stanze*, set to poetry—including verses by Alfred Brendel—and scored for solo baritone, three men's choruses, and orchestra. Also featured is Gustav Mahler’s symphonic poem, *Das Lied von der Erde* (The Song of the Earth), set to a selection of ancient Chinese poems. This work
