Synopsis

The evening’s program features the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, led by their music director Herbert Blomstedt, who makes his debut at the Proms. Michael Aspel will introduce the concert from London’s Royal Albert Hall, where the orchestra will perform Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” and Mendelssohn’s Overture to *A Midsummer Night’s Dream*.
