Synopsis

From London's Royal Albert Hall, Stephanie Hughes presents the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by Esa-Pekka Salonen, in a performance of the London premiere of John Adams's *Slonimsky's Earbox*. The program also includes Gustav Mahler's song cycle, *Leidenes Fahrenden Gesellen*, featuring soloist Lorraine Hunt (mezzo-soprano), and, following the intermission, Jean Sibelius's *Four Lemminkainen Legends*. During the intermission, the audience is invited to contemplate the ancient Finnish lands
