Synopsis

James Naughtie presents the annual celebration of classical music, broadcast live from London's Royal Albert Hall. This opening segment features familiar works by Wagner, Handel, Brahms – marking the centenary of his death this year – and Messiaen. Also premiering is a choral composition by Scottish composer Judith Weir, titled *Sanctus*.
