Synopsis

The evening’s concert, marking the centenary of the first Prom, opens with Wagner’s Overture to Rienzi. This is followed by Leoncavallo’s Prologue to Pagliacci and Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1. After the intermission, Thomas’s Overture to Mignon will be performed, alongside Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 in B minor, the Unfinished, Rossini’s Largo al factotum, and Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1. The New Queen's Hall Orchestra, conducted by Barry Wordsworth, will perform with soloists Donald Maxwell
