Synopsis

Throughout its history, the Proms have welcomed the world’s leading orchestras, consistently offering some of the most memorable performances each season. Tonight’s ensemble is the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by music director Esa-Pekka Salonen, and they present a work composed specifically for them: Lutosławski's Fourth Symphony. The composer, who passed away earlier this year, conducted the symphony's UK premiere at last year’s Proms.
