Synopsis

The tradition of celebrating a composer’s early works continues with this performance of a Wagnerian evening, a staple of the Proms in their formative years. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales, led by principal conductor Tadaaki Otaka, presents the program. Last night's concert featured notable selections, beginning with the powerful Tannhäuser overture, the most frequently performed piece in the Proms’ history, followed by the Venusberg Music from the same opera.
