Synopsis

Simon Rattle is closely associated with two ensembles: the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. The latter will make their debut at the Proms with a performance of Schoenberg's early and vibrant Chamber Symphony No. 1. Following this, Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini, appearing on television at the Proms for the first time, will join the CBSO for Mozart's Concerto No. 24, K491.
