Synopsis

The second half of tonight’s concert promises a stirring climax. However, before the celebratory exuberance of "Pomp and Circumstance," "Sea Songs," and "Rule, Britannia!," the program offers moments of deeper musical engagement. Part two opens with Walton's *Shakespeare Suite* from *Richard III*, followed by selections from Vaughan Williams’s *Songs of Travel*, featuring bass soloist John Tomlinson, and Bennett’s waltz, "The Orient Express." The traditional grand finale will be Jerusalem.
