Synopsis

The evening’s Prom is a key event within the European Arts Festival, timed to coincide with the United Kingdom’s Presidency of the European Community. The Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy, will perform Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, the Choral, featuring its iconic "Ode to Joy"—a piece adopted as the community’s anthem. The Brighton Festival and London Symphony Choruses will join forces with soloists Margaret Price (soprano) of Wales, Martine Mahe (mezzo-soprano)
