Mark Wigglesworth has rapidly established himself as a leading young conductor in Britain. The victor of the 1989 Kondrashin Competition, and recently appointed Associate Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra at just twenty-six, he makes his Proms debut tonight with a performance of Bartók's Music for Percussion, Strings and Celesta. Robert Ziegler, the evening’s presenter and a conductor himself, will also meet with the esteemed Polish composer Witold Lutosławski, who will conduct his new son
