Synopsis

Tonight's program features a trilogy of Iberian show-pieces, brimming with the vibrant rhythms, sweeping melodies, and shimmering instrumental textures characteristic of Spanish music. The Philharmonia Orchestra is led by concertmaster Peter Thomas, with Serge Baudo conducting, and acclaimed pianist Alicia de Larrocha as soloist in Manuel de Falla’s impressionistic *Nights in the Garden of Spain*. The concert begins with Emmanuel Chabrier's quintessential Spanish tableau, *Espana*, and conclu
