Synopsis

Stravinsky's *Le Rossignol* (The Nightingale) featured in the second of this year's Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, is presented by Jane Glover. The work recounts the tale of *The Emperor and the Nightingale* by Hans Christian Andersen. Within the vibrant court of a Chinese emperor, the genuine song of a nightingale surpasses the allure of a cleverly crafted mechanical imitation.
