Synopsis

Walton's dramatic choral work, *Belshazzar's Feast*, premiered at the Leeds Festival in 1931. The libretto, assembled from the Book of Daniel by Osbert Sitwell, unfolds a powerful narrative. The performance featured Stephen Roberts (baritone), the BBC Singers, the BBC Symphony Chorus, the London Philharmonic Choir, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, with Bela Dekany leading the orchestra and Sir John Pritchard conducting.
