Synopsis

Richard Baker introduces the concluding performances of the 90th Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, which BBC1 and Radio 3 will broadcast in stereo from the Royal Albert Hall. James Loughran conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra, featuring principal player Rodney Friend, and the BBC Singers, directed by John Poole. The BBC Symphony Chorus joins them. Chorus-master Brian Wright leads the performance of Elgar’s March: Pomp and Circumstance, No 1. Following this is a suite by Sullivan, arranged by
