Synopsis

Cameras for the outside broadcast capture the commencement of the 90th season of the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall in London, featuring two significant works by British composers. The first part of the program presents Elgar's song-cycle, 'Sea Pictures,' his interpretation of five poems concerning the sea, which premiered in 1899. The soloist is Janet Baker, a mezzo-soprano.
